同城快约 Honors 2020-2021 Distinguished Alumni During Homecoming

WARRENSBURG, MO 鈥 In recognition of graduates鈥 outstanding achievements, the 同城快约 will celebrate its 2021 Homecoming with the annual Distinguished Alumni Dinner at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, in the Sandra Temple Elliott Ballroom of the Elliott Student Union. Two individuals will be honored as this year鈥檚 Distinguished Alumni, and five alumni will be recognized as 2020 honorees. Those who register for the dinner (ucmfoundation.org/2021distinguishedalumnidinner) will be able to watch the program via livestream.

Missouri Bicentennial Keynote Lecture on Sectional Tension and Compromise of 1820 Slated for Oct. 16 in Lee's Summit

WARRENSBURG, MO 鈥 As Missouri celebrates its bicentennial, History Program faculty members at the 同城快约 are helping to coordinate an in-person presentation by Dr. Chris Childers, associate professor of history at Pittsburg State University and author of the book, 鈥淔ailure of Popular Sovereignty.鈥 His free, public Missouri Bicentennial Keynote lecture is slated for 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at 同城快约-Lee鈥檚 Summit, the Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC), 1101 NW Innovation Parkway, Lee鈥檚 Summit.

Muleskinner Adviser Julie Lewis Named Recipient of 2021 Adviser Award

Julie Lewis, assistant instructor of digital media production and faculty adviser for the 同城快约鈥檚 student-led newspaper, the Muleskinner, is being recognized as one of the College Media Association's 2021 Best Media Advisers in the nation. Lewis was one of three Honor Roll Advisers recognized from four-year institutions.

But Amber鈥檚 journey wasn鈥檛 always centered around academia鈥攕he was once on track to become a professional bowler before life handed her a proverbial gutter ball.
